Fair enough. I took your advice and "updated" all
partitions' filesystems to the new FFS version. So far so
good...

I tried the Emergency disk but still didn't get an icon or
recognition of the unitiliased drive (!), hence my method of
using 3.0.
Now if I could just get it to use my Screenmode prefs on
startup I would be a happy camper again...
